At Hot Corner Athletics, we’re proud to have Ron Closson as a cornerstone of our coaching staff, bringing passion, expertise, and a wealth of experience to our baseball development programs. Based in Holland, NY, Ron has dedicated his life to the game, excelling as both a player and a coach with a focus on developing young athletes into their best selves on and off the field.
As a standout pitcher and third baseman, Ron’s playing career was marked by grit and achievement. He earned two Varsity Letter Awards at SUNY Erie, where he showcased his talent on the mound and at the hot corner. His accolades include being named the 1987 West Falls Baseball Club MVP and contributing to the Suburban Baseball Association’s remarkable 54-game winning streak with West Falls. A member of the East Aurora Baseball Hall of Fame, Ron also earned a spot on the Section 6, Class D All-ECIC Team and secured two Varsity Letter Awards during his time at Holland High School. Just before the program’s disbandment in 1987, he transferred to the University at Buffalo to continue his baseball journey.
With over 25 years of coaching experience, Ron has become a trusted mentor for aspiring players. For seven years, he coached in the Showcase Division (ages 15-19u), leading teams to 10 tournament championships and four runner-up finishes. His ability to develop talent is evident in the 17 players he has guided to collegiate baseball programs, helping them take their skills to the next level.
At Hot Corner Athletics, Ron brings his deep knowledge of the game, a proven track record, and a commitment to fostering growth in every player. Whether refining pitching mechanics or sharpening infield skills, he’s dedicated to helping athletes reach their full potential.
